Parish Outreach

Send us forth

"Send Us Forth" is a blog written by the rector and parishioners of Christ Church, Rochester, New York. We are a community of old and young, uncertain and sure, city-dwellers and suburbanites, gay and straight, life - long Episcopalians and those from any number of religious or non-religious backgrounds. The phrase "Send us Forth" reflects our liturgical prayers to remember that "church" is not only a worship space but also Jesus' mission of justice and peace for the earth and its inhabitants.

Refugee Resettlement

Christ Church hosts refugees from Liberia and Sudan. We also support "Saint's Place," a refugee resettlement, non-profit, by donating needed supplies (clothing, household items, furniture.)

Episcopal Relief and Development (ERD) Carpenter's Kids

Christ Church has a long-standing Lenton Program helping to raise funds supporting ERD's mission of "Healing a Hurting World." Our specific outreach involvement is "Carpenter's Kids" providing children in Africa supplies for school. This is a global connection with our Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. School 9 outreach.

Christ Church members are concerned about larger issues concerning social justice and structures that aid or prevent peace and justice. Our Advocancy Outreach is a gathering of those interested in learning more about an issue and then advocating for true justice through letter writing campaigns.
